El Sol improves the quality of life for the community of Jupiter by providing services to day-laborers and their families.
We appreciate your patience as we complete our new website. In the meantime please visit our Facebook page for more information on our programs.
About Us
At first, El Sol simply provided a controlled, safe, and just labor center that served as a solution to injustices that day laborers faced (wage theft, labor abuse, crime, discrimination, and unsafe hiring conditions) and offered an organized service for employers looking to hire day laborers. However, over the past 16 years El Sol has expanded to offer services in seven different program areas: Labor, Adult Education, Health, Community Life, Legal, Food and Nutrition, and Youth Development. El Sol is a shining example of a community coming together to devise an innovative solution to a challenging problem.

Gabriel joined the El Sol labor program in 2014. A biology professor at a college in his home country, Mexico, he shared that he had volunteered with the Mexican Red Cross for 14 years and felt the need to do something for the community. His first step was to learn English. He joined the nighttime English as a Second Language classes and quickly progressed through all 4 levels. Putting his teaching skills to work, he started volunteering to tutor our adult students who are finishing their primary and secondary education in spanish. He reports that his greatest achievement at El Sol was when he enrolled in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) college courses through Palm Beach State College in the summer of 2017. He walked into El Sol the day after the first class to show off his college ID card. With emotion he said, “I never thought I would get one of those! It allowed me to think of the possibilities and it provided me with a national certification ." Gabriel is active in our day-labor program, has led some of our worker development workshops and currently serves as the Workers Council President.
