On March 5, El Sol Jupiter Neighborhood Resource Center held a “Safety First!” workshop that focused on information about products that are harmful or dangerous to children.
The presentation was conducted by Palm Beach Gardens resident and expert speaker Ann Brown, who has served as chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission during the Clinton administration.
She has appeared regularly on NBC’s Today Show, providing America’s families with tips and safety advice.
Brown was recently appointed to El Sol’s Board of Directors, saying she admires the nonprofit organization’s commitment to helping persons in need that include many immigrants and their families.
Assisting Brown in the presentation was Alan Schoem, a Washington D.C. attorney who represents clients with product safety related issues and who was formerly head of compliance for the CPSC, while Brown was chairman.
The two discussed a variety of topics ranging from children’s toys and products that are recalled to general household items that if not used correctly, or while supervised, pose serious risks to babies and small children. Read More
