Story by Vanessa Ibarra, El Sol’s bilingual outreach coordinator
We live here and we volunteer here.
In case you missed it on Saturday, ten men and women registered in El Sol’s labor program helped paint the home of a single mother of two.
Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches organized the community service project.
”The Town of Jupiter is incredible,” said Joanna Aiken, president of Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches. “There are so many resources out there for residents in need… The expense of paint and the labor can run a homeowner thousands of dollars. We help them save money so they can make other home repairs.”
To help the single mother in need, the Town of Jupiter provided funds for Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches, the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County provided recycled paint and El Sol workers volunteered their time.
Rebuilding Together is a national nonprofit with a network of more than 200 affiliates across the United States. Its mission is to preserve affordable housing by bringing volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners.
