  • How to Help

2016_Page_1Dear friends and neighbors,

We are excited to share with you our 2016 annual report. El Sol continues hosting a safe, organized indoor space that facilitates the hiring of day laborers. Workers registered in our labor program fulfilled more than 14,000 job requests for local employers in 2016!

Partnerships with CROS Ministries and The Palm Beach County Food Bank helped us continue to address food insecurity in Northern Palm Beach County. In 2016, 12,743 meals were served at El Sol. The Jupiter Food Pantry provided food for 3,460 individuals.

Adult learners received English, vocational training, financial literacy, computer training and Spanish literacy instruction in El Sol classrooms. One hundred forty two ESL students were promoted a level of ESL instruction. Sixteen adult students received diplomas in Primary School Education and five received diplomas in Secondary School Education.

More than 250 individuals received referrals for medical care through El Sol’s health program. Health promoters reached more than 1,000 individuals with information on health topics such as the spread of the Zika virus.

Volunteer attorneys helped more than 400 individuals with legal questions.

We estimate the value of the volunteer hours logged at El Sol and all the services El Sol provides to the Town of Jupiter to be about $1.6 million for 2016.

El Sol relies on donations and support from individuals and organizations to cover operating expenses. Our annual report recognizes our important funders and supporters, without whom we would not be able to advance our mission.

It is a privilege to work in Jupiter with so many people dedicated to our mission to improve the quality of life of all the residents of Northern Palm Beach County.

We will continue to count on your support. You serve meals from our kitchen, share about our mission at outreach events, guide us with strategic planning on our board of directors, and work one-on-one tutoring men and women striving to better themselves. The talent and dedication on display at El Sol is inspiring positive change every day.

We have even more to do together in 2017. Best wishes for a happy and healthy year,

Jocelyn Skolnik
