URGENT: OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS!
Administrative volunteers are very important behind-the-scenes volunteers. Volunteers are needed for tasks such as data entry, filing and operating funraising software. Flexible, may be able to work from home.
Computer Lab Volunteer
The computer lab volunteer is responsible for monitoring the lab and verifying that the workers are abiding by the rules of the computer lab. May be asked to give short presentations and teach computer skills or life skills. Must be comfortable with computers but no expertise necessary. Should be somewhat proficient in Spanish.
Community Service Liaison
We are in need of a volunteer to commit to 5-6 hours per week on your own schedule which can be done remotely. This will entail scouting out community partners and working out the logistics for organizing El Sol workers for community service projects.
Daytime ESOL teacher
Daytime ESOL teachers lead classes at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels, in corporating practical knowledge with language learning. Volunteers do not need to be bi-lingual.
Financial Literary Teacher
Topics include debit cards, credit cards, how to make a budget, how to open a bank account, etc. We welcome anyone who is bilingual and willing to commit to 1.5 hours per week. No teaching experience necessary.
Garden Care Volunteer
El Sol is in need of a Garden Care Sunshine Volunteer who will water plants, plant seeds/seedlings, and help with projects posted by Garden Coordinator Cliff Ross.
Grant Writers & Fundraisers
if you have any experience writing grants, or would like to learn to write grants for our organization, this is just the volunteer position for you!
Grant writing is a skill that is in high demand in the job market. Retain, fine-tune, or develop your grant writing skills with us while simultaneously improving your resume.
The kitchen volunteer is responsible for assisting with serving breakfast and lunch for the workers through preparation, cooking and cleaning tasks.
Labor Desk Volunteer
The Labor Desk Volunteer fills in for the labor coordinator during weekly staff meetings and when the coordinator is on vacation. The Labor Desk volunter provides employers with workers. Must be bi-lingual.
Labor Hall Volunteer
Once a week, Tuesday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am, this staff member attends the El Sol staff meeting. We need someone occasionally to take over the Labor Center during these staff meetings. If you’d like to learn the inner workings of a visionary labor center and help out your community at the same time, this is the position for you! You must be able to speak English and Spanish fluently and have basic computer skills.
School for Parents Kitchen Helper
On September 10th, School for Parents Program will start. Breakfast will be served to the attendees of this 10 week program and volunteers are needed to prep breakfast (mostly bagels and coffee), serve and clean up.
