El Sol’s Promotores de Salud (health promoters) team informs the community about health care, prevention, and accessing care. The goal of the Promotores de Salud Program is to increase access to health care for Spanish-speaking, low-income, uninsured, and under-insured residents of the Jupiter area. The Program trains 8-10 Promoters in collaboration with the Rural Women’s Health Project on topics such as diabetes, nutrition, and other topics. The promoters then disperse this critical health information to 10 community members each, greatly multiplying our reach. The Program hopes to reach well over a 1,000 people over a two year period.
El Sol’s Promotores de Salud (Health Promoters) Program was recently awarded $112,000 dollars from Quantum Foundation! Funding will allow El Sol to continue educating day-laborers and their families about important health and prevention information so that they can live a healthier life.
