This popular annual festival returns Sunday, Nov. 4 featuring original paintings by Jupiter artists, a variety of crafts plus colorful necklaces, bracelets and embroidered bags made by women in a Guatemala mountain village.
The festival is from noon to 4 p.m. at the El Sol Center, 106 Military Trail. Admission is free. With “Come Celebrate,” as its theme, the event is shaping up to be one of El Sol’s largest festivals, said Chairperson Andrea Cleveland. A portion of the proceeds go to benefit the non-profit El Sol Neighborhood Resource Center.
“We are expecting another large crowd and want everyone to come and see the wide variety of paintings, crafts and other items that will be available for purchase.” Cleveland said. Food, including baked goods will also be available.
There will also be a raffle of a painting by Jupiter artist Pedro Chavajay.
The beautiful embroidered bags, necklaces and bracelets from Guatemala were produced by a Mayan women’s cooperative of talented artists and craft persons in the municipality of Conception Chiquirichapa in Guatemala’s western highlands.
Participants in El Sol’s sewing program will also be selling bags and other products they have created with sewing skills acquired through El Sol’s vocational training program. As in past years, the Lighthouse ArtCenter of Tequesta is co-sponsoring this year’s Art Fest. For more information call 561-746-3845
